Getting Started with Essential Oils

Ready to give essential oils a try?!  I'm here to help!

The easiest way to get started it to keep it simple!  I've made a 'Beginner Essential Oil Set' that has 5 of my most popular top selling essential oils.  Within the set, you will get a 5 ml of Lavender (French), Orange (Sweet), Grapefruit (Pink), Peppermint & Lemon essential oils.  These 5 scents compliment each other and you can mix and match them to create your own blends.  You can use these pure essential oils in a diffuser or you can dilute them with a carrier oil for skin use.

What is a Diffuser?

A diffuser is used to disperse essential oil into the air.  You can use them as an air freshener or for a specific need, such as diffusing essential oil to help you fight off a cold.  With so many diffusers out there to purchase, it can be hard to find the right one.  Here are a few I recommend:

1st Pick:
Organic Aromas --> I currently have 2 "Raindrop Nebulizing Diffusers".  I have one set up in our kitchen and I have one at our cabin.  Best things about this diffuser is that it used no water, no heat and is SIMPLE to use.  After having numerous diffusers stop working or leak water all over my kitchen cupboard I was so happy to find a beautiful diffuser that used no water, just essential oils.  So simple just a volume switch to control to how much essential oil is dispersed.  The diffuser runs for 2 minutes on and 1 minute off with an auto shut-off after 2 hours.  Works well for larger rooms as it can service a room 800+ square feet.

2nd Pick:
Cool Mist Essential Oil Diffuser --> I have 2 small essential oil diffusers for my kids' rooms.  You fill up the 100ml capacity tank with water and put in a few drops of essential oil.  The diffuser creates a mist that diffuses the essential oil in the air.  It has 2 modes: continuous misting or mist for 30 seconds then 30 seconds off.  Running the diffuser on continuous mode will last about 3 hours and about 6 hours on the intermittent mode. When the tank is almost out of water the diffuser will shut off automatically.  There are many of this same type of diffuser available, I purchased mine from Amazon.  They work well for a small space and also have a 7 color light which makes it great for kid's rooms.  The diffuser will also work with the light off.

What is a Carrier Oil?

Carrier oils are used to apply essential oils to the skin.  Here are some common types of carrier oils:

  • Sweet Almond Oil

  • Fractionated Coconut Oil

  • Apricot Kernel Oil

  • Olive Oil

  • Jojoba Oil

All essential oils should be diluted before they are applied to the skin. If essential oils are not diluted properly they could have harmful effects on your skin and your body's well being.  To learn more about diluting essential oils, please click here.
